How do you make the bluetooth visible for a Samsung Magnet cell phone?

I just bought a Samsung Magnet cell phone. I was told that there was a bluetooth feature to communicate files with other cell phones such as music and photos. I can turn on the bluetooth and the bluetooth light comes on. I am not visible to myself or anyone else. Now, let me say this makes absolutely no sense to me, but that is what the AT%26amp;T rep said. We are taking them back and getting something else. What if the bluetooth headset goes bad within the 2 years?
