How do I make my Samsung tv show 720p or higher?

I have a Samsung SP43W6HPX tv, it says it is capable of 1080i definition but when I set to this definition on my xbox it doesn't work. Anyone know how I change it?How do I make my Samsung tv show 720p or higher?720P and 1080i are about the same in some respects. i for interlaced and p for progressive and it indicates the way the scan lines are sent to the T screen (or recorded in a Video recorder).

it goes like this

480p 720p 1080p

480i 720i 1080i

They are stacked on top of each other in respect of in some way as comparable resolution though there is more to this. Not really that simple.

If your xbox only puts out 480i or 480p then its not going to show it as 720p on your TV even though it is capable of it.

Some DVD player do up-conversion from 480p to 720p or 1080i but the quality is not any better (in reality just larger) and the up-converter has to make up missing information to fill in the blank space to give the appearance of 720p or 1080i though its really 480p or 480i.How do I make my Samsung tv show 720p or higher? You cant the xbox 360 is not capable of 1080i output where as the PS3 is.

You need a 1080 output signal to display 1080.

Get it?
