How can I connect my Samsung HDTV to my Samsung surround sound?

I just bought a 6 piece Samsung surround Sound system with the multi chanel receiver and I already have a HD cable box and PS3 connected to the TV via HDMI but can't seem to get them all to work together. I followed the instructions which say to connect it all through the receiver and have 1 HDMI to the TV but that does not work. When I do that my cable doesn't work and my PS3 doesn't work. Do I need a different cable or something? How can I connect my Samsung HDTV to my Samsung surround sound?I don't know how many ports your new tv has but I will assume at least 5.

Connect the HD cable box to the tv using the hdmi cable. That's what you will be using most.

Connect the ps3 to another hdmi port if you have one.

If the receiver has a dvd player connect that to the tv.

(connect a a/v cable from the tv's audio output back to the s/s audio input.)
