and am absolutely stoked with how good it looks. saved a ton, and it gets the job done.Whats the difference between samsung and vizio?
Drake, you didn't say if these are plasma or LCD sets, which can make a big difference. At 55 inches, you absolutely *do* care about refresh rate if you're talking about an LCD set. You didn't cite model numbers so we can't compare, but a refresh rate of 60 hz on a 55 inch LCD will make you a very unhappy viewer when you watch your first football game and try to follow a forward pass from one side of the screen to the other.

Vizio is a low-end brand sold by discount stores. If the store backs it thoroughly, you might be happy with a Vizio. But between that and Samsung, Samsung gets the lion's share of positive customer reviews. Same for other top brands like Sony, Panasonic, and more.

I wouldn't consider a Vizio at all unless I bought it at Costco, which has either a 60 or 90 day no-questions return policy, depending on which store you ask. Last time I checked the local Walmart, it was only 30 days.Whats the difference between samsung and vizio?Of course it's LCD, there are no 55" plasma sets on the market.

Just look at the picture and compare the two. If the Vizio looks ok to your eyes, then save the $900. Consumer Reports is having a bit of an issue with Vizio. Their data says Vizio has about a 3% failure rate, but they've been hit with an abnormal number of compliants on their site, so they're keeping an eye on the data.

I personally don't like the Vizio picture quality on the sets I've seen - green push, faded colors, higher levels of black crush.... but if the picture looks good to you, that's all that matters, and $900 is a decent chunk of money.Whats the difference between samsung and vizio?
You are one of the people who have made Vizio the largest selling television in America. The things you mentioned as important and not important to you make you the person Vizio designs its TV sets for.

I'm with you. I don't to pay twice the price for all the technology that I can't even see or hear.

Some people are going to tell you the Vizio is made in China. That's true. There is not ONE television that is made OR assembled in the United States any longer. RCA was the last holdout, and they shut down US assembly operations about 15 years ago and moved their plant to Mexico.

Some people will tell you the Vizio breaks down all the time. I've had one for 4 years now with no problems whatsoever and paid way less than Sony.Whats the difference between samsung and vizio?quality of picutre, samsung has better quality, faster refresh rate, you can tell in action movies or sports, if you don't care about quality, go for vizio.. it's up to you
