I really enjoy taking photographs, and would love to learn how to get a blurred background, with only the subject of the picture in focus.Ive tried messing around with some of the settings and I cant quite seem to figure it out.Does anybody know if the samsung l200 is capable of producing an image like that, and if so how? What settings do I need to use?How to produce a blurred background with samsung l200 digital camera?I don't know if you have any modes for your camera, but if you have a portrait setting, try that one. And use the telephoto zoom, putting a lot of distance between your subject and background. How to produce a blurred background with samsung l200 digital camera?Unfortunately the sensor is much too tiny and the zoom range much too small to let you do this to any degree of satisfaction. The problem you have is a massive depth of field to overcome.
If you had a 10x zoom you could just focus on your close subject and then the distant backgound will be less in focus. On some cameras you can cheat by using the macro (close-up) button but you can't have a very 3D subject.
Pros use very expensive cameras and lenses to get that blur separation and even those with 4:3 and APS-C sensor DSLRs still can have problems with that kind of creative need.
There is however a workaround in Photoshop and it's called Gaussian Blur. You carefully paint a mask over your subject (magnetic lassoo tool if you're lucky) that you want to stay in focus and then select inverse to make blur changes to the background only. You can also feather the blur to make it look more natural.
