You go to imos to get a pizza on a thursday night. You see that an 8 inch pizza costs $7.00. Keeping the price per square inch constant, how much should a 16 inch pizza cost?
Thanks! :)Math Word Problem!!!?
Assuming the pizzas are circular?
Area 1 = pi x 8^2 = $7
Area 2 = pi x 16^2 = $?
So (pi x 16^2)/(pi x 8^2) = $?/$7
4 = ?/7 so ? = 28
Note that the area of the bigger circle is 4 times the smaller circle and that is what does it!Math Word Problem!!!?
8inch pizza = 2pi4^2 = 100.5309649in^2
16inch pizza = 2pi8^2 = 402.1238597in^2
(402.123.../100.530....)*7 = 28.00... = $28.00
